Be Quiet So I Can Take Your Money

Few people are in a position to blog about Empire Avenue as much as I do.  I get that.  I am a fast writer who can start up a conversation with a deaf mute.  However, you need to be talking with the Empire Avenue community if you want to increase either your influence or your affluence.  If not, people like me are just taking money that should be yours as well.

Next, creating a dialog.
You want to do more than just broadcast your message too.  Empire Avenue best rewards you when people are having a discussion with you.  You want people commenting on your Facebook status updates, retweeting your Twitter posts and  commenting on your blogs. Not only does Empire Avenue give you credit for having this dialog, but people are more likely to buy and hold you if you have engaged them.

Yes, you could go on at length about your new kitten or your collection of pocket trolls, but you probably want to focus on subjects with broader appeal.   Topics such as Twitter, Facebook, social media, Apple, the internet, are likely to be more widely appealing to us — a wired group.  However, the one thing we all have in common is Empire Avenue.  So, even if you are determined to talk about casting for the next Spiderman movie, you owe it to yourself to have some conversation about the site.

I have already had people say to me that they couldn’t come up with topics for blog posts like I do.  Moreover, many people feel they do not know about Empire Avenue to write about it with any authority.  If you find yourself feeling that way, I have a little present for you.  Here are five topics of conversation related to the site that you or anyone else should be able to talk about off the top of the head.

1. Your Introduction to Empire Avenue

  • How did you learn about Empire Avenue?
  • What did you think when you first read or heard about it?
  • Why did you decide to check it out?
  • How long ago was that?
  • Was social media something you paid much attention to before Empire Avenue?

2. Your Early Trading

  • What did you think of Empire Avenue once you signed up?
  • Did you jump right into it, or go slow?
  • How quickly did your stock price rise in the beginning?
  • Did you become addicted, and if so, how long did it take to feel that way?

3. Possible Futures for Empire Avenue

  • Is Empire Avenue first and foremost a game to you, a networking site or an equal parts of each?
  • What do you think is the biggest appeal for others?
  • Would you like to see them develop one aspect of it more than another?
  • How successful do you think Empire Avenue will be?
  • Are you prepared to stick with it even if it is slow in developing?
  • How do you think the site and its usefulness will change over time?
  • What most excites you about the future of Empire Avenue?

4. Learning the Ropes

  • What do you know now that you wished you knew the first day you joined Empire Avenue?
  • Was there a big mistake you made at any point?
  • How have you dealt with times you have had to be away from the site for an extended period?  Have you ever had a big slide in your stock?
  • Do you want and expect to reach the tops of the leader boards , and if you are already there, now what?
  • How has your strategy changed over time?
  • Have you gained anything tangible from your time on the site?

5. Your Role in the Community

  • Putting aside how well your share price is doing or will do, why should someone invest in you?
  • What do you bring to the community that others should care about?
  • Is technology just a hobby for you, or is it part of your livelihood?
  • Would you like to be able to get to know, in-person, some of the people on Empire Avenue?
  • Besides just increasing your audience, do you see any business opportunities presented by Empire Avenue?
  • Would you like to somehow be involved in developing Empire Avenue further?

It doesn’t matter where you start having these conversations, but you do need to start. While a blog gives you the most scope, you can even get creative with Twitter.  Here’s what a tweet might look like from me:  When joining #EmpireAve, I got stumped for good ticker. Read an EA blog first.  RZR for fundraiser -my job. What were your 1st moments like? (Yes, 140 characters exactly.)  Imagine what can be done with a two-post strategy.

If you want help with the technical parts of blogging, I encourage you to guest blog on this site.  All you have to do is contact me and I will tell you where to email an article.  I will post it on the site for you complete with your own URL and RSS feed.  Because isn’t it better that I am helping you make money rather than taking it away from you?

Are you engaged in a conversation with the Empire Avenue community?  What has been the most effective way for you to reach out?  Does writing come easy or hard for you?  Do you think that people would be interested in the topics and questions I posed?

Great conversation starters, William! Video blogs are also super easy, which is why I started doing them for my EA site.

It's like the first half of this was written to me. Hmm…

  • Crawford Comeaux

What are you using to record your vids, software-wise?

Wow! Your posts just keep getting better. This one is fantastic. Clear, organized and like Adriel said, great conversation starters. Great Job!

Good stuff – I've gone from newbie to number one in the UK in 3 weeks – or at least I think it's only 3.

I think I'm going to slack off now – in fact I have to – a busy week and then a holiday. By the time I get back to it there will have been 50% of the time I've already been on pass through. Reckon I'll be down to 12e by mid-July :)

Then it's some serious blogging and influence building on Twitter to be done!

Great points! Oh and btw, I also can start a conversation with a deaf mute. My reference is usually, “I can talk to a door knob”. Thanks for the blog, it really helps with EA!
